Design Your Own Eco Cabin · Week 4

Shape Your Cabin

We start inside, one space at a time. The form emerges.
Each exercise goes on its own sheet of tracing paper over Sheet 4. Draw by hand and keep it rough: the accurate drawings come in Week 5. Everything saves on your computer as you go.
01

Shape

Each moment shapes its space. The flow sets the place. The moment sets the shape: the view, the sun, the space next to it.

02

The roof

The roof is the cabin’s hat. It shelters you, shades you from the summer sun, collects water and power, and sets how it feels underneath.

03

Openings

Walls separate. Openings join. An opening lets you see through, walk through, or both.

04

Supports

Everything rests on something, all the way down to the ground.

05

Test

Lay the layers over each other. Where two disagree, fix it. Finding a clash now costs a pencil line.

Keep your Cabin Concept

I'll send it to the email at the top of this page as a Google Doc you can keep working on. I get a copy too. Once it arrives, add photos of your four tracing sheets, the section and the elevation: open the doc, then Insert, Image.
